JENNIFER DAVIS SORENSEN, Huntsville

I have been an art educator for most of my adult life.  My career in the secondary public schools in Salt Lake City and the Ogden Valley, and then teaching privately since my retirement from the school system, has given me a perspective of the importance of the visual arts in the lives of people of all ages.

As I see the impact that art has on human beings, I am emphatically convinced that art education at any stage of life is the core of personal understanding and discovery. With today’s inherent obstacles to creative thinking, which bombard us from every direction, people need to experience the fact that their original ideas are valid and valuable. I have felt that it is my duty and calling to instill in my students the desire and ability to ‘think like artists’.  I want them to see and appreciate their world through eyes that are different from the average person’s, and to develop the skills needed to invent and create their own unique work.

I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts and teaching degree from the University of Utah and a Master of Arts in Fine Arts and Education from the University of Montana.  My work reflects my own discoveries and appreciation of the world.  From the backyard of my Huntsville, Utah home, to other meaningful places and people, my images in oil, acrylic, oil pastel, ink, and watercolor, express an intimate response to my surroundings, interests and inspirations.    Contact Jennifer by email  jenniferdsorensen@hotmail.com  for information on her art or for art instruction opportunities.
